Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill saga pulls no punches with its stylish action. Here are its best moments.

5. The Origin of O-Ren

Just spellbinding. Not only does it become a homage to anime but also manages to move the story forward in ultra-violent fashion while also giving us the necessary backstory of one of the best characters in the movie. It’s an unforgettable revenge detour that helps us see that revenge is never a straight line.

4. Two

The opening to this tale of bloody revenge is just breathtaking and insanely cool, with The Bride introducing us to her skills in the best possible way. Somehow, her backstory is perfectly revealed through great dialogue, and then just as we’re ready to breathe… Kaboom!

3. Elle and I

An epic showdown. Two characters we knew would end up facing each other finally do so and basically destroy a trailer in the process. Violent, funny, intense, and with plenty of backstory exposed, this one amps up the stakes and ends the only way it could.

2. Face to Face

While the violence here may not be as intense, the action scene is dialogue-heavy slow burn. By the time it climaxes, we are ready to see our hero do the deed and finally kill Bill in one of the most satisfying endings to an action movie. The dialogue drives the action, giving us insight into who the characters are.

1. Showdown at the House of Blue Leaves

The crowning achievement of the movie. It’s basically 30 minutes of non-stop action, with plenty of stylized violence to a great musical score, very high stakes, and a powerful emotional impact. Jumping between black-and-white and vibrant color makes everything come alive.
